Manchester United are Back

Posted: October 6, 2007 in Barclays Premier League, Soccer

Man United 1 4 Wigan 0: For a day, Manchester United are finally back on top of the Barclays Premier League. Also, they finally got off this final score of 1-0 or 2-0, albeit against Wigan. Carlos Tevez opened the scoring in the 2nd half, making a brilliant run and put the ball home for his 2nd as a Red Devil. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the next 2 goals, and Wayne Rooney finished off helpless Latics. United have not allowed a goal (under Edwin Van Der Sar or Tomasz Kuzscak), since Geovanni’s strike from Manchester City.

Maybe this is the turning point for a team that stumbled out of the gate. Rooney and Tevez are healthy, Ronaldo is going strong, and they are unbeaten in 2 months.

If you want to know what happened in the West Ham/Aston Villa game, hop over after the jump.

Aston Villa 1 West Ham 0: West Ham wishes they had Tevez back. Craig Garnder scored the only goal of the game, as Villa continue their impressive start in the new campaign. Villa are now 5th in the table, although it could change with the 8 games coming up in the next 2 days.
